In our previous BLOG “Ancient Healing Practices”(, we discussed how not following the laws of nature may lead to imbalances in the body resulting into dis-ease. We have also discussed how modern day medicines, instead if curing the dis-ease, simply suppress the symptoms and how over a period of time the symptoms not only reappear, but also come back more severely and entail various other complications. The side effects of these medicines are also severe and can’t be ruled out.

In order to be rescued from modern day medications we have turned to Ancient Healing practices, which rather than suppressing the symptoms of the dis-ease for the time being aims at eliminating them by balancing the body and bringing it in tune with nature. Balancing the body, mind and spirit, using some of the Ancient techniques have now been scientifically proven to be much more effective in prevention and cure of most dis-eases, with no side effects. The long lost healing practices followed by Ancient civilizations, one of them being YOGIC/ MEDITATION Practices, are now being recognized worldwide, and extensive research has scientifically established that there are a few components, which when applied or used in certain conditions can positively impact the body and keep it healthy and free from dis-eases.

Before we discuss the components and their uses, let us understand our body, mind and soul as some of the ancient civilizations perceived and described them.

“The human body is a latticework of energies, vibrating at different frequencies, encompassing its physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects”.

Now the question arises, where are the center(s) of these energies located in the body?

According to Ancient Kemet, and Early Hinduism and Buddhism, Chakras are the energy centers in the body. Although most people have heard of the seven chakras, there are actually 114 in the body. The human body is a complex energy form; in addition to the 114 chakras, it also has 72,000 "nadis," or energy channels, along which vital energy, or "prana," moves. When the nadis meet at different points in the body, they form a triangle. We call this triangle a chakra, which means "wheel." We call it a wheel because it symbolizes growth, dynamism and movement, so even though it is actually a triangle, we call it a chakra. Some of these centers are very powerful, while others are not as powerful. At different levels, these energy centers produce different qualities in a human being.

According to the meditation practices, if the chakras ever become out of sync, they can negatively impact your physical, mental and spiritual health. Each of the chakras is associated with a particular body part and its proper functioning.

What is the location of the chakras? It is important to become aware of the 7 primary chakras present in our body as it will help in detecting any deeply-rooted issues in the body before they surface. Locating and analyzing the chakras can help in healing old emotional and physical wounds. The chakras are located along the spine. Detailed below are the locations of the 7 chakras in our body and their functions:

1. The root chakra (color: Red) The root chakra is the first chakra of the body and is located in the base of the spine. Its role is to connect our mind, body and soul with the Earth. This chakra is feminine by nature and gives us the feeling of being close to the earth. It keeps us grounded and connected with the energy of the earth. 2. The sacral chakra (color: Orange) The sacral chakra is located right below the belly button – three inches below the navel to be precise. This chakra is associated with the lymphatic system and is responsible for expressing emotions. It also helps you to get in touch with your sexual desires. 3. The spleen/solar plexus chakra (color: Yellow) The third chakra is located behind the naval region below the rib cage. It is associated with self-confidence, self-discipline and wisdom. This chakra is also responsible for the “gut feeling”. For the uninitiated, gut feeling is getting a cue about something which isn't right for you, your intuition. 4. The heart chakra (color: Green) The fourth chakra is known as the heart chakra and is associated with love and compassion. It is located in the center of the chest and not where the actual organ lies. This chakra is responsible for emotional healing and sound mental health. 5. The throat chakra (color: Blue)

This chakra is associated with voicing your expressions and being creative. The throat chakra is located right above the heart and is responsible for expressing the truth and sharing our opinion with others.

6. The third eye (1st EYE) chakra (color: Indigo) The sixth chakra is the third eye (1st EYE) chakra, which loosely translates to “beyond wisdom”. We have termed this chakra the 1st EYE chakra to enjoin respect for Spirituality and to promote the maxim “As Above, So Below”. This chakra is responsible for garnering information about yourself and beyond the materialistic world. It is located in between eyebrows.

7. The crown chakra (color: Violet) The seventh chakra is known to be responsible for direct connection with the creator and conscious energy. This chakra is located on the top of your head and is associated with the Buddhist concept of achieving nirvana. Balancing this chakra will help you gain insight into yourself and balance your other chakras.
